My Carry On Essentials

Whether it’s a weekend trip to another state or a month long overseas trip there is always the task of packing the carry-on bag. While it seems easy the pressure is real to make sure you have everything you need onboard with you. Luckily for you guys I’m going to make it superrrrrrrrr easy and list out everything I make sure I have with me at all times!

I’m going to start off with the top 10 items I 100% suggest you pack with you and then list the rest at the bottom for some extra spice *insert salt bae meme*, here we go!

Any Necessary Travel Documentation: This normally is your passport, drivers license and any other ID that you have (obviously) but also involves any bookings that have been made prior such as hotel bookings, boarding passes or rental car bookings πŸ™‚

Medication: If you need to take medication regularly, its super important to have these on hand with you. Keep them down near your seat if you know they need to be taken at particular times for ease of access.

Spare Clothes: All I can say here is ESSENTIAL! A spare pair of clothes and undergarments as well as a toothbrush and toothpaste is one of the most important things in case your bag gets temporarily misplaced. This way you will have something to get you through the next day while waiting for your bags.

Devices: Any handheld device, going as large as a laptop, is allowed to be carried onto the plane and I highly recommend packing a few of these with you especially for longer flights, accompanied by headphones of course. There’s a massive list of small devices to bring but the ones I generally cycle through are my laptop, iPad, iPhone and Nintendo Switch (love myself a little game) – make sure you bring a portable charger to make sure these don’t run out of charge πŸ™‚

Pens: Make sure you bring a pen on board with you to fill out any visa documentation or any other relevant documents required by the country you are going to. You could even use it for paper games like naughts and crosses or squares to keep you and a friend entertained!

Snacks: We all know plane food is not the greatest thing made by humans so pack a snack or two to keep you filled up throughout your flight!

Neck Pillow: Although the plane seats come with an inbuilt head holder, I find that a comfy neck pillow is the way to go. Mine always makes sure that I have a soft cushion for my head and I don’t get any neck pains when I wake up πŸ™‚

Water Bottle: A lightweight water bottle is always a good idea when travelling a short or long distance to make sure you stay hydrated for the duration of the flight. This has also been proven to help with any jetlag you may experience, I can’t argue here it’s worked for me so far!

Reading Materials: If you want to rest your eyes from the blue light of your devices I recommend bringing a book or a magazine onto the flight with you. I absolutely love reading my novels cause it makes the flight time go soooo much faster.

A Personal Item: I always take a small bag thats called a ‘personal item’ on a flight with me as a little hack to get extra storage for the flight back. We all know, even if we deny it, that our bags come back at least a few kilograms heavier on the flight home, the personal item is great for some extra space πŸ™‚

I hope those were helpful for your carry on packing list but if you need some extra items consider packing some face masks if you’re worried about aeroplane germs, antibacterial wipes and sanitiser to use after using those nasty bathrooms, any glasses for reading, sunglasses for your departure from the plane and consider buying a travel wallet to hold all your important documentation together in one place!

Pro Tip: Make sure you wear or hold a jumper/jacket when boaring the plane (it doesn’t count as luggage) even if its hot outside cause we all know aeroplanes get abit chilly! Oh and also pack any other valuable items you want to make sure don’t leave your side πŸ™‚
